From 2023 through to September 2025, Peacock Engineers Ltd successfully carried out the surveying and setting out responsibilities for the new multi-million-pound Carlisle Southern Link Road (CSLR) project, working alongside Galliford Try, who were appointed to design and deliver the scheme. Throughout the project, Peacock Engineers Ltd supplied experienced surveyors and setting out engineers, providing precise engineering support to ensure the accurate positioning and coordination of key infrastructure elements during construction.

Project Overview
Project Impact
The new Carlisle Southern Link Road will connect Junction 42 of the M6 to the A595 at Newby West, creating a vital new transport route across the south of the city. The major infrastructure scheme includes additional crossings over the River Caldew and River Petteril, together with the construction of four roundabouts, five cycle bridges, and four road bridges along an 8km stretch of new highway.
Designed to support long-term growth and connectivity, the project represents a major investment in the future of Carlisle and the wider region. The new road will play a key role in improving transport links, reducing congestion, and unlocking development opportunities, while also providing essential infrastructure for the new Cuthbert’s Garden Village community. The scheme is set to deliver lasting economic and social benefits for both the city and the wider county, with the road scheduled to officially open in late summer 2026.
